Where I learned this

I trained and worked as a groomer at PetSmart. I am grateful for it. You learn a lot of coats very quickly in a salon, and you learn to be fast. What I could not get used to was the clock. There is always another dog booked, and the animal in front of you does not know that.

So I went out on my own, and I built this around the opposite idea: one pet at a time, and the appointment takes as long as that pet needs it to take.

Why bunnies

Almost nobody around here will groom a bunny, and I understand why. They are genuinely harder than dogs. Their skin tears, they overheat, they cannot bring up the coat they swallow while they are moulting, and a frightened bunny can hurt its own back struggling against you. So people ring round, get told no everywhere, and the matting quietly gets worse until it is a vet problem instead of a grooming one.

I said yes instead, and I learned to do it properly. That is where the name came from, and it is still the part of the job I would not give up.

Dogs and cats too

Bunnies are my speciality, not my whole book. Full grooms for dogs, first trims for puppies, brush-outs and sanitary trims for cats, a lot of salons have stopped taking cats altogether, and I have not. They all get the same treatment: slow hands, a price you knew in advance, and a session that stops before your pet has had enough of it.

How I work

• One pet at a time, somewhere quiet rather than a busy salon floor.
• You get the price before I start, and I call you before I change the plan.
• If an animal has had enough, we stop. Half a groom done well beats a finished one they will dread next time.
• You get photos, because the difference is usually worth seeing.
• Nothing here is sedated, and nothing gets cage dried.

And when you are away

I also sit. Drop-in visits, overnight stays and walks, in your pets' own home, on their own routine. Which for most animals is far less upsetting than being boarded. You get photos and a note after every visit, so you are not sitting in an airport wondering.
